Zach Schira has served Maricopa County since January of 2017. As Assistant County Manager for Elections and External Affairs, he oversees several key departments including Elections, Government Relations, Communications, Information Governance, and the Stadium District.
A native Arizonan, Zach previously served as Chief of Staff to District 3 Supervisor Bill Gates, providing strategic advice and administrative support during a tumultuous time that included the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 and 2022 elections. In that role, he also helped lead important initiatives such as a countywide rebranding project, a countywide strategic plan update, and the addition of paid family leave to the County’s generous employee benefits package.
Zach received his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Dayton but came back to Arizona after graduating. In addition to his work serving Maricopa County government, Zach has done work for non-profit organizations including the Greater Phoenix Chamber’s Valley Young Professionals Board, the Boys Hope Girls Hope Breakfast Committee and the Arizona Coyotes Foundation Grant Committee. Most recently, he was awarded Phoenix 40 Under 40 by the Phoenix Business Journal.
