Zhi Xu is currently Director, Successful Ageing in the Ageing Planning Office (APO) at the Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH). In this role, she works across the Singapore government to set the direction of national strategies to harness the potential of Singapore’s ageing population. She also oversees the development of residential care facilities as well as new housing-cum-care options to enable ageing in place, active ageing programmes, and senior outreach to provide care for the broad base of seniors in Singapore, coordinates MOH’s approach to dealing with needle-moving age-related conditions, as well as steers ageing R&D.
Prior to this, Zhi Xu was Deputy Director of the Geo-Strategic Policy team in PMO Strategy Group, where she worked across agencies to analyse the implications of geo-strategic developments from a cross-domain and medium to long-term perspective, recommend strategies and translate them into action. She was concurrently Special Assistant to Head, Civil Service (HCS), and supported the HCS in both international engagements and internal Public Sector Transformation efforts.
Prior to joining PMO-SG, she spent eight years in the Economic Development Board. There, she moved through various roles developing the Energy and Chemicals and Biomedical Sciences industries in Singapore, ranging from investment attraction and facilitation to long-term manpower and industry planning. She also spent three years in New York as part of EDB’s International Operations, and was at the frontline in attracting new investments into Singapore.
