Mohamed Mandour Global 2026

Mohamed Mandour is the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) researcher at the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). He holds a master’s degree in human rights, with a minor in law and a concentration in national security and accountability, from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School.

Before joining CPJ, Mandour was a Bassem Sabry Research Fellow at the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy and was recognized as an Emerging Expert by the Forum on the Arms Trade. His research focuses on press freedom, technology policy, digital repression, and the use of artificial intelligence in warfare, with a particular emphasis on the MENA region. His work has been cited by major outlets including The Washington Post and The Guardian.
