Maya Lahav Global 2025

Maya is a DPhil researcher in Criminology at the University of Oxford, where she explores the role of digital platforms in enabling human trafficking, including AI-facilitated cybercrime. Alongside her research, she lectures and consults on these topics at university level.

Previously, Maya served as Head of Section in the Office for Cyber and Information Security at Denmark’s Ministry of Defense, contributing to national and international cyber resilience. Before that, she led the Human Exploitation Department at a high-tech company, developing strategies to counteract online human trafficking and collaborating with global stakeholders to enhance platform safety. She has also worked with NGOs in Nepal and Bangladesh to combat child trafficking.

Maya holds an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Oxford and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh. She is an alumna of the Hoover Institution International Seminar (HIIS) at Stanford University and has been recognized as an Oxford Trygfonden Scholar and Yale Santander Scholar.
