Mark Stevens North America 2021

Mark Stevens is a recent graduate of Yale Law School and will begin serving in the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the Legal Adviser in September 2021. He previously served as a fellow at the department during the Obama administration, where he focused on U.S. policy on the Levant region of the Middle East. During this period, he also briefly reported on political conditions in northern Syria from the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Mark subsequently worked for a private research initiative undertaking humanitarian assessments in contexts of crisis and displacement. Through this work, he helped conduct assessments in Uganda and northern Syria to assist international NGOs and UN agencies in their emergency responses. A native of District Heights, Maryland, Mark holds a BA in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University and a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs.
