Lise du Buisson Global 2026

Dr. Lise du Buisson is a multidisciplinary academic, strategic advisor, and writer, with research spanning engineering, astrophysics, AI, and philosophy.

Her current research focuses on AI safety, where she maps venture spaces to identify high-potential startups and investors advancing safe and responsible AI, and bridges the gap between technical research, public understanding, and policy engagement. Going forward, she will focus on strategy and investment in the deep tech venture space, ensuring technological advancements are safe and beneficial. She is also the co-founder of a think tank producing strategic research to guide cultural and institutional shifts brought on by AI.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Lise is currently based in London. A Rhodes Scholar, she holds a BEng in Engineering, an MSc in Astrophysics, and earned her DPhil at Oxford, where she specialised in stellar evolution models and black hole systems. She also studied political philosophy, global justice, and public affairs at St Andrews. Lise has authored numerous scientific publications, and her philosophy essays have received national recognition.
