Ismet Fatih Čančar is a political economist and a researcher. He previously served as an Advisor to the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina where he was in charge of Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs portfolio. He recently worked as a Partnership for Peace Fellow at NATO Defense College where he focused on NATO integration and collective defence and security posture of Western Balkans region.
Throughout his career, he has worked in a number of fields, including international affairs and security, film industry and banking industry. As a Chevening scholar, he contributed as a Civil society task member at the Western Balkans Summit 2018 organized by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of United Kingdom. His expertise, professional experience and research interest are split between foreign affairs and international security & defence relations, energy security and international political economy, with specific focus on Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the geopolitics of Western Balkans. He regularly writes and analyzes contemporary issues and has published for outlets such as RUSI, The National Interest, New Eastern Europe, Just Security, CEPA, NATO Defence College, and others. Furthermore, he engages in strategic advising and planning, and leadership support across all levels of government.
Ismet Fatih holds a BSc in Economics from Sarajevo School of Science and Technology and University of Buckingham, an MA in International Political Economy from King’s College London, and has commenced his PhD studies in Political Science and International Relations.
