Bálint Pataki is a Senior Advanced AI Policy Researcher at the Centre for Future Generations (CFG). His research into EU AI innovation policies has been featured in media outlets, including Euractiv, Tagesspiegel, Science Business, Parliament Magazine, and Tech Policy Press.
At CFG, Bálint’s research and advocacy efforts focus on supporting the European Commission’s work setting up CERN for AI, an international public-private partnership for trustworthy frontier AI development. He researches how this new institute could be governed, funded, and operationally managed to promote the EU’s and participating allies’ economic competitiveness and security.
Bálint frequently moderates high-level roundtable discussions and delivers policy briefings to senior leaders across the European Parliament, major technology firms, and other influential digital policy stakeholders.
Previously, he was an Accredited Parliamentary Assistant for MEP Maydell, where he advised on EU AI, biotechnology, and quantum policies. In addition to contributing to the EU AI Act negotiations, he lectured and spoke at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, and Leiden and briefed US Congressional staffers on EU AI policy developments.
His practical experience is complemented by an academic foundation in Economics and Public Policy from the Universities of Oxford and Leiden.
