Azania Imtiaz Patel is a Rhodes Scholar and social scientist working at the intersection of technology, culture, and governance. She is Project Director of the LIPI Library, a transdisciplinary initiative incubated at Equitech Futures that bridges South Asian literature and machine learning through the creation of multilingual AI datasets. She also co-leads the India Ghost Project, an ethnographic research and archival effort exploring the relationship between ghost stories and urban change. Previously, she reported for The Economist on defense, development, and democracy, and worked with the Ellison Scholars Programme at the Ellison Institute of Technology to expand programme outreach across South and Central Asia.
