Axel Hellman is a Member of Cabinet to the EU Commissioner for Environment, working to develop the Union’s environmental policy with a focus on green finance and diplomacy.
He previously served as Head of Office to a Member of the European Parliament and, before entering politics, was a London-based foreign policy analyst specialising in European security, Middle Eastern affairs, and Russia–West relations. In this role, he advised European governments on strategic policy issues, led a Track 1.5 dialogue initiative on Russia, and worked with investors and corporations to assess political risk and market stability across emerging economies.
His commentary has appeared in Foreign Policy, The Financial Times, Bloomberg, and The Atlantic, among others.
