Simone Askew North America 2022

Simone Askew, of Fairfax, Virginia, is currently a Captain in the U.S. Army. To date, she has earned her MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies and a Master of Public Policy at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.

As a 2018 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Simone served as the first African-American female First Captain in the Academy’s 200-year history and was also the first African-American female Rhodes Scholar chosen from West Point.

She now serves as a U.S. Army Engineer in the Washington, DC area and focuses her research on white extremism within the U.S. military.
