Ozioma Paul Africa 2023

Ozioma Paul is a Doctoral Candidate with a focus on optimization and decision sciences at the Alliance Manchester Business School. Her Ph.D. research is on using technology (specifically AI) to improve school bus travel for SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) students in England.

Ozioma also works part-time as a Systems and Data Analyst at the Government Outcomes Lab (GO Lab), University of Oxford. There, she supports the work of the International Network for Data on Impact and Governance Outcomes (INDIGO). She collaborates with researchers and a network of data stewards to maintain, visualize, and build quality datasets to support the mission of INDIGO.

Ozioma holds a master’s degree in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s in computer science from the University of Lagos. In between studying, Ozioma has worked in three global professional services firms namely KPMG, Deloitte, and Ernst & Young across several industries and teams, using technology to optimize and improve systems.

Before resuming at the GO lab, her roles have spanned across research assistant, technical support for both hardware and software, technology consultant, and more recently, short stints as a data analyst at an African FinTech, Asaak, and the World Bank Group.

When she is not gathering insights from data or conducting research, she is either sewing, writing, or dancing. She also has a special love for Nigerian jollof rice and electric guitars.
