Nikki Sun is a research fellow at the Chatham House under the Digital Society Initiative (DSI) in London. Her research focuses on the impact of emerging technologies on the future of work. She is currently conducting fieldwork in China. She also contributes to other Chatham House research on global governance of platforms and cross border data transfer.
Nikki previously worked as a tech correspondent for Nikkei Asia in Hong Kong with a focus on China internet and electric vehicles. She wrote on the development of critical technologies such as autonomous driving and covered a wide range of topics including US-China tech rivalry, Beijing’s crackdown on the internet platforms and data protection regulations. Prior to Nikkei, she covered politics and business news for the South China Morning Post.
Nikki has a master’s degree in international political economy at King’s College London. Her dissertation explores the role of AI, big data, and digital technologies in shaping the dynamics of global value chains.
