Mohammad Tamim Karimi Asia 2024

Mohammad Tamim Karimi is a fellow within the Open Society University Network’s Threatened Scholars Initiative. In this capacity, he helps his alma mater, the American University of Central Asia, by providing professional development and civic engagement workshops and summer/winter schools for students and facilitating grant initiatives. Tamim also is the president and co-founder of the Rumi Organization for Research (ROR), a non-profit headquartered in Afghanistan. ROR is dedicated to researching access to education and water management in Afghanistan. He supervises the ROR’s mentorship program and the distribution of Duolingo English proficiency test vouchers for Afghan youth willing to study abroad. Tamim earned a BA in International Relations and an MA in Central Asian Studies from the American University of Central Asia.
