Matthew Shampine (차민근) is the co-founder and CEO of Dongnae, a proptech startup focused on making great housing more affordable and accessible to renters in Korea. Prior to founding Dongnae, Matt was on the founding team of WeWork and co-founded WeWork Labs – WeWork’s startup incubator with over 100 locations on five continents. In 2015, as a member of a 3-person team he helped lead WeWork’s expansion in Asia and Australia as Managing Director, APAC and relocated to Korea in 2018 to assume the role of General Manager for WeWork Korea.
Matt is on the Board of Directors of GOA’L, a non-profit to help the over 200,000+ Korean adoptees in need of support to live in Korea, find their birth families, and connect to their mother country. Additionally, he is an active angel investor and helps to run the WeWork Alumni Fund. He graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
He and his wife, Soohyun, currently live in Seoul together with their daughter and dog.
