Corey Jacobson is the Director of Strategy and Policy at K2 Space, a California-based startup manufacturing low-cost, high-powered satellites. He is also an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve supporting U.S. Space Command.
Jacobson previously served for over a decade in the federal government, where he drove investment in and adoption of emerging technologies. Most recently, he was the Chief of Staff of the Defense Department’s Office of Strategic Capital, where he helped launch financial products to provide over $5 billion to companies developing critical technologies. He also served as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy and led the development of the Department’s first Commercial Space Integration Strategy.
Prior to joining the Biden administration, Jacobson helped stand up the Navy’s Task Force 59 to integrate unmanned and A.I. systems into the fleet, and he served as the Legislative Director for Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) and the National Security Advisor for Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA).
A California native, Jacobson completed his master’s degree at the London School of Economics, his bachelor’s at the George Washington University, and his Joint Professional Military Education at Air Command and Staff College. He lives in Virginia with his wife and two children.
