Aigerim Zhaparova Asia 2023

Aigerim Zhaparova is an In-Country Coordinator for the TB project on advancing the testing of drug-resistant tuberculosis through New Generation Sequencing technology application in Kyrgyzstan. She also serves as a consultant to WHO Regional Office for Europe “Better Labs for Better Health” program.
Aigerim has previously worked in USAID-funded projects on good governance, public administration strengthening and community development in Kyrgyzstan. She also led a grass-root project funded by the World Diabetes Foundation on providing support to patients and families of those affected by type 1 diabetes.

Apart from her main work, Aigerim is a diabetes advocate committed to raising awareness, and improving policy. She serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the global ACCISS Study aimed at Addressing Challenges and Constraints to Insulin Sources and Supply in low- and middle-income countries.

Aigerim holds a B.A. degree in International and Comparative Politics from the American University of Central Asia, and MPP from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.

Aigerim’s ultimate objective is to promote reforms for strengthening healthcare systems, advancing innovative funding mechanisms, and multi-sector cooperation among key stakeholders for effective healthcare policy and management.
