Krishnendu Ray Global 2025

Krish is a theoretical physicist working at the intersection of fundamental science and emerging technologies. As a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, he completed his DPhil in Theoretical Physics with influential work on string theory, black holes, and quantum information, including research positions at Stanford and Cambridge.

Krish now divides his focus between applied and theoretical work. At Haiqu, Inc., he serves as a Research Scientist specializing in quantum computing and machine learning, while continuing his theoretical research on black holes and quantum information as a Research Associate at Oxford. He has also established the Einstein Memorial Lectures, a distinguished lecture series in collaboration with the Rhodes Trust and Schmidt Sciences that has become a permanent fixture in Oxford’s academic calendar.

Beyond his research, Krish actively shapes science policy as Associate Director of the von Neumann Commission, which investigates quantum computing’s potential to accelerate artificial intelligence and its societal implications. Supported by starter grant from the Office of Eric Schmidt, the commission partners with leading organizations including the Aspen Institute, World Economic Forum, Quantonation, Google Quantum AI, and IBM Quantum. Krish also serves as an advisor to the Aspen Institute on Quantum Computing and AI.
